Asbestos Awareness Training is designed to educate employees, contractors, and anyone potentially exposed to asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) about the risks and proper safety measures. Asbestos, a group of naturally occurring fibrous minerals, was widely used in construction, insulation, and various other industries for its fire-resistant and insulating properties. However, prolonged exposure to its fibres can cause severe health issues, including lung cancer, asbestosis, and mesothelioma.
The primary goal of asbestos awareness training is to equip individuals with the knowledge needed to identify ACMs in buildings or work environments and understand the hazards associated with disturbing them. This training is crucial for maintaining workplace safety, especially in industries like construction, renovation, or demolition where exposure risk is higher.
Please note: Asbestos awareness training does not qualify individuals to perform asbestos removal or abatement, which requires additional specialised training.

Who it’s for: Individuals who will be directly involved in the handling, removal and disposal of asbestos-containing materials.
New Asbestos Operative Training is a specialised program designed for individuals who will be directly involved in the handling, removal, and disposal of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). Unlike asbestos awareness training, which focuses on identifying and understanding the hazards of asbestos, this course provides hands-on instruction and certification for safe asbestos removal and remediation activities.
What the course covers
Asbestos legislation and compliance
Operatives are introduced to the legal framework surrounding asbestos, such as the Control of Asbestos Regulations (in the UK). Understanding these laws ensures that all work is compliant with health and safety standards.
Risk assessment and planning
Participants learn how to conduct thorough risk assessments and develop work plans tailored to the specific asbestos-containing materials they will encounter.
Personal protective equipment (PPE)
Detailed instruction on the selection, use, and maintenance of PPE, including respirators, protective suits, and gloves, to ensure operatives are protected from asbestos exposure.
Controlled removal techniques
Safe asbestos removal techniques to prevent the release of dangerous fibres, including wetting techniques, encapsulation methods, and safe disposal practices.

New Asbestos Supervisor Training is an advanced, specialised program for individuals who will oversee and manage asbestos removal projects. This training is essential for supervisors responsible for ensuring that all asbestos removal work complies with health and safety regulations, maintaining worksite safety, and effectively leading a team of asbestos operatives. The course builds on the foundational knowledge of asbestos handling while emphasising leadership, compliance, and operational oversight.
What the course covers
Regulatory compliance and legal responsibilities
The legal framework governing asbestos removal, such as the Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR), including licensing requirements, reporting obligations, and the legal duties of a supervisor.
Project planning and risk management
Developing comprehensive work plans and detailed risk assessments, with planning for safe access, environmental controls, and emergency response.
Team leadership and communication
How to effectively lead, instruct, and monitor a team of operatives, with clear communication, delegation, and problem-solving.
Worksite safety management
Managing PPE, ensuring proper decontamination procedures are followed, and implementing emergency protocols in case of accidental asbestos release.
Air monitoring and clearance procedures
Interpreting air monitoring data to keep fibre concentrations within permissible limits, and the final clearance process before reoccupation.
